Dr. Renu Abraham Varughese, Ph.D
Dr. Renu Abraham Varughese, MS (clinical specialty in aging), MPhil (guidance and counseling in gerontology), Ph.D. (gerontology), is a clinical gerontologist and a tenured teaching faculty in the School of Health and Natural Sciences at Mercy College, New York, USA.
Dr. Varughese has more than thirty years of experience in long term care centers as a clinician, educator, and consultant. Her doctoral research examined a cross-cultural comparative study of elders residing in senior care centers in India and the USA. Dr. Varughese was awarded the prestigious US-Nehru Fulbright scholarship to India and Sri Lanka by the US Department of State and Cultural Affairs for the year 2015-2016 and again in 2019, the Fulbright Specialist scholarship award by the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board for a tenure of three years (2019-2022). Her Fulbright research in India resulted in the implementation of a culturally appropriate resident assessment tool for assessing and planning person-centered care for residents in senior care centers in India. Dr. Varughese has almost twenty years of teaching experience in higher education. Dr. Varughese serves many roles within the global aging communities.
Mr. Jiji Philip
Jiji Philip, a Management graduate, did his Master's in Social Science and has a Post Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management and Labour Laws. He brings with him more than thirty-five years of experience, knowledge, and skill to lead the team at Travancore Foundation.
His career span at Tata Tea Ltd. and with SIPD equipped him with proficiencies in the field of Senior Living, Operations Management, Financial & Construction Management, Community Development, and Social Welfare, in the Christian Charitable domain. His nine years of leadership in Christian ministry had given him an opportunity to interact with various Christian Organizations, Mainline Church leaders, and operational expertise in managing various Christian Institutions such as Mission Schools, Community Centers, Vocational Training Schools, Counselling Centers, etc. It is his quest to concentrate now on the silently neglected elderly population of the Society, and provide them the much-needed love, care, comfort, and respect in a clean and well-managed atmosphere, with quality amenities. His insight into deep Christian principles and inter-denominational outlook, which he has gained in his association with Mission Fields will be an added advantage for him to head the operations at Travancore Foundation.
